Portus Supported Housing launches new supported housing scheme in Nottingham
Portus Supported Housing has expanded its supported housing provision with a new purpose-built scheme on Hucknall Road in Nottingham.
We are proud to announce the launch of Portus Supported Housing, following the merger of BeST (Bespoke Supportive Tenancies) and Westmoreland Supported Housing, effective 1 December 2025.

Our merger - believed to be the first voluntary strategic merger between fully lease-based supported housing organisations - has created one of the largest providers of Specialist Supported Housing in the UK, managing 2,340 homes across England and Wales.
This merger is all about our customers. It gives us the chance to strengthen the support we provide, make sure services are consistent and reliable and invest in the people and systems that help customers live independently and with confidence.
It’s not about size for its own sake - it’s about being financially strong enough to keep our promises. Without stability, we can’t deliver care or dignity. This merger is a game changer that allows us to focus on improving services, strengthening compliance and building for the long term.
Between 2018 and 2020, both BeST and Westmoreland were found non-compliant by the Regulator of Social Housing. Since then, we have delivered extensive governance and financial reform under new boards and leadership teams.
Through open collaboration with the Regulator, we have stabilised operations, strengthened governance, and ensured safe homes and continued support for adults with complex needs across England and Wales.
Following the merger, we have begun implementing a range of improvements to strengthen services for residents. These include:
The creation of Portus Supported Housing marks a new era for supported housing - one built on stability, consistency and care. We are focused on delivering safe homes, reliable support and lasting positive outcomes for every customer.
